Supervillainess Idea

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 10:53 PM
FEEDBACK APPRECIATED

So I'm thinking of a new story plotline. It's of the superhero genre, but it would focus on the villains. The main villain is a man with the power to control existence with his will. He can bend reality with a simple thought, but he's still bound by the laws of the universe. He's got some henchmen who are more stereotypical villains and the superhero team who's always hounding him is rather stereotypical as well. However, I came up with a rather neat idea regarding his leading lady. Here's her backstory:

Supervillain name: Maia
True name: Tsetsegmaa (surname forgotten & lost to time)
Height: 5'0" (153cm)
Weight: 110lbs (50kg)
Age: 1246
Superpowers: spontaneous clone pregnancy, telepathic link between clones, shared knowledge, memories, and sensory input between clones

Tsetsegmaa was born in the 700's, to a tribe of Mongolian nomads. She lived a normal life until she hit puberty. All her life Tsetsegmaa had looked forward to being a mother. Then, at the age of 13, she discovered that she was pregnant. This greatly concerned her, since she was still a virgin. Even worse, she knew what the consequences would be if her tribe found out. She fled for her life and, luckily, found her way to a small settlement. She begged for scraps as the months went by and the child grew within her. Then, in her third trimester, she began having strange visions and sensations. It was as though she was perceiving the world through the senses of the unborn child she carried. By the time of her due date, the sensations were constant and she actually experienced the birth through two perspectives. She raised her daughter lovingly and explored the link they shared. As the child grew and reached adulthood, it became obvious that she was a carbon-copy of Tsetsegmaa. The two used their link to become expert thieves and manipulators.

Tsetsegmaa's daughter eventually conceived, without a man, and gave birth to her own daughter. Once again, a mental link was forged between all three Tsetsegmaas before the child was even born. As the original continued to explore her powers, she realized that not only was she able to sense the world through all three women, but she could share all her knowledge and memories with them as well. She also discovered that her very will is what caused her to conceive her children. The Tsetsegmaas became very intelligent and cunning as the years went on. Even as the original Tsetsegmaa eventually died, her daughters gave birth to a small army of identical women. However, they realized that the more Tsetsegmaas that existed, the weaker their link became. It was as though a cacophony of voices rang out in the women's heads at once and it tested their sanity every day. Tsetsegmaa's original daughter decided that a cap on the number of herselves had to be established to preserve her mental abilities.

Of course, the problem with one Tsetsegmaa coming to this decision is that ALL of herself became aware of the idea. Inevitably, a war raged between herselves to see which were going to survive. In the end, eight Tsetsegmaas stood amidst the bodies of the other clones. For the first time in years, their thoughts were uniform and clear. They decreed on that day that eight would be the ideal number for their existence, with the youngest Tsetsegmaa of age giving birth should one die.

With a renewed solidarity, Tsetsegmaa used manipulation and her ever-growing knowledge of the world to take advantage of people and gain wealth and power for herself. For over a millenium she has lived, on every continent, in every culture, through every important event in history since her original birth. Having heard of a new supervillain with incredible powers, she has made her way to America to see if she can take advantage of this new tyrant. She cares not whether she fails, for there are always more of her waiting in the shadows.
